RESIDENTS PAPER COMPETITION

The Annual Residents Paper competition of the Philadelphia Academy of Surgery is held at the February meeting.  Abstracts submitted to the Chair of the Program Committee are considered for either podium or poster presentations.  Cash prizes are awarded in both categories.

Both clinical and basic science work is welcome.  Presentations at the Philadelphia Academy of Surgery need not preclude submission to other meetings or publication elsewhere.  However, it is expected that the work will be original, the work will be substantially the product of the presenting resident, who will be matriculated in an ACGME-accredited residency in surgery or a surgical sub-specialty, and the work will not have been previously published.  It is also expected that the resident will be present at the February meeting to present his/her work.

The posters are available during the reception at the start of the evening.  The podium presentations are given following dinner.  The podium presentations are ten minute presentations followed by five minutes for discussion.
